Deputy Chairman of the DPR RI Rachmat Gobel accompanied by Deputy Chairman of the DPR RI M. Azis Syamsuddin chaired the DPR RI Border Development Timwas Working Meeting with the Minister of Home Affairs / Head of BNPP, Minister of Villages for Disadvantaged Areas and Transmigration, Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing, and the Minister for National Development Planning / Head of Bappenas.
In this meeting, the DPR RI Border Development Teamwas paid special attention to the welfare approach at the border. “The community welfare approach at the border is a top priority in the development of the border region without having to ignore the security factor,” said Azis when reading the conclusion of the meeting at the Special Committee Meeting Room B, Nusantara II, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (15/3/2021).
Timwas, chaired by the Chairman of the Indonesian Parliament, Coordinator for Industry and Development (Korinbang) Rachmat Gobel, also revealed that community involvement in improving the quality of life in border areas must be prioritized in order to increase nationalism for border communities in border areas.
In addition, the Indonesian Parliament also appreciated the stipulation of Presidential Instruction Number 1 of 2021 concerning the acceleration of economic development in the border areas of the country in Aruk, Motaain and Skouw. With this presidential instruction, the DPR RI is confident that it can accelerate border development, particularly in the three regions.
According to Timwas, in the development of border areas, the development model as in Presidential Instruction No. 1 of 2021, the three regions of Aruk, Motaain and Skouw can really become role models , which will then become examples in the development of other border areas.
In accordance with today’s meeting, Timwas will hold a follow-up meeting with several relevant ministers and carry out Raker, RDP, RDPU activities with central or regional agencies and carry out periodic visits to the location of development in border areas with the government. In addition, the results of Timwas’ work will be reported before the DPR RI Plenary Meeting.
