The parliament of Israel — the Knesset — has entered one of the most consequential political crises in recent Israeli history. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s coalition is facing possible collapse, lawmakers are advancing legislation to dissolve parliament, and the country is moving toward what could become another historic national election amid war, social division and constitutional strain. 

The Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran — commonly known as the Majlis — has become one of the most important arenas in the country’s ongoing political, constitutional and geopolitical crisis. While Iran’s real centers of power still lie with the Supreme Leader, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and unelected oversight institutions, the Majlis in 2026 is playing a highly visible role in legitimizing state policy, managing public anger, and shaping Iran’s position in negotiations with the West.

Voting was held on Monday, November 10, in the first phase of Egypt’s 2025 parliamentary elections. It was conducted under tight security and strict administrative oversight. According to the National Elections Authority (NEA), more than 35 million voters were registered across 14 governorates, including Giza, Alexandria, Fayoum, Minya, Luxor, and Aswan.

Syria will hold its first parliamentary elections under new leadership between September 15 and 20, authorities confirmed on Sunday. This landmark decision comes just seven months after the ousting of Bashar al-Assad, which brought an end to over 60 years of Baath Party rule.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa al-Sudani has launched a powerful new political alliance just months before the upcoming elections. The move aims to end legislative deadlock, pass urgent reforms, and boost his influence in parliament.

Joseph Aoun, the commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces, has been elected President of Lebanon, ending more than two years of political deadlock. On July 7, 2025, Aoun won 99 votes in the second round of balloting in Lebanon’s 128-seat parliament.

In a landmark decision, Iran parliament has voted overwhelmingly to suspend all cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The move follows 12 days of joint US-Israeli airstrikes targeting Iran’s key nuclear sites—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. Out of 223 lawmakers, 221 voted in favor, with one abstention and one opposing vote.

In a bold response to recent US airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear sites, the Iranian parliament has approved a motion to close the Strait of Hormuz. This crucial waterway handles nearly 20% of the world’s oil supply.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry announced that the Iran Parliament is preparing a bill to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s fragile coalition narrowly escaped collapse. A crucial vote in the Knesset to dissolve parliament failed by a 61-53 margin. The vote, triggered by the growing crisis over military conscription for ultra-Orthodox Jews, could have forced early elections.

Arab Parliament has strongly condemned Israel’s recent decision to build 22 new settlements in the occupied West Bank. It also denounced Israeli airstrikes near Syria’s Presidential Palace and escalating violence in Gaza.

Iran Parliament ratified a 20-year strategic partnership with Russia, marking a significant deepening of bilateral relations. This agreement, which includes enhanced defense cooperation, economic collaboration, and joint military efforts, comes amid growing tensions with the West.

The Arab Parliament inaugurated its fourth session of the first legislative year of the fourth parliamentary term, held at Iraq’s Council of Representatives in Baghdad. In a statement, the parliament praised Iraq’s hosting of the upcoming 34th regular session of the Arab League Council at the summit level.
