The Arab Parliament opened its fourth session in Baghdad at Iraq’s Council of Representatives. This marks the first legislative year of the fourth parliamentary term. The Arab Parliament praised Iraq for hosting the upcoming 34th Arab League Summit. It expressed confidence in Iraq’s ability to ensure a successful summit. The statement highlighted Iraq’s role in promoting Arab unity and tackling regional issues. It also praised Iraq’s support for major Arab causes.
The Arab Parliament noted Iraq’s progress in infrastructure, housing, energy, and technology. These initiatives were called vital for sustainable development and economic strength. It also acknowledged Iraq’s preparations for parliamentary elections set for November 11, 2025. The Parliament commended national institutions for their efforts. The Arab Parliament is based in Cairo. It includes representatives from all Arab League member states. The body serves as a consultative assembly for Arab cooperation.

“Convening the Arab Parliament in Iraq is clear evidence of the stability of the security and political situation. It is an important message to the world and the region ahead of the Arab Summit,” said Arab and Iraqi MP Nadhim Al-Shabli to the Iraqi News Agency – INA.
He added, “Choosing Baghdad as the venue for this meeting confirms that Iraq has overcome its challenges and stands today confidently in supporting the nation’s crucial issues, foremost among them the Palestinian cause.”

‘Iraqis are the origin of civilization and Arabism’
Jordanian MP and Arab Parliament member Atallah Al-Hnaiti
expressed his gratitude for what he described as “the authentic Iraqi hospitality and honor,” saying, “This is not strange for Iraqis, as they are the origin of civilization and Arabism.”
Al-Hnaiti pointed out that “the Arab Parliament meetings in Baghdad place major Arab issues on their agenda, most notably the Palestinian cause and the developments in Gaza,” praising what he described as “the remarkable urban renaissance in Baghdad,” saying, “I have visited Baghdad more than once, but this visit is different. I have witnessed significant urban and security progress, making Baghdad one of the capitals where people feel most comfortable and safe.”

Jordanian MP and Arab Parliament member Mujhim Al-Suqour praised the Arab Parliament session in Baghdad. He said hosting the event shows Iraq’s strong return to the Arab stage.
Al-Suqour called it a sign of Iraq’s renewed role in joint Arab action. He stated that Baghdad now unites Arab representatives to support key issues. He stressed the importance of backing Gaza as a top priority.
Al-Suqour noted major progress in Iraq’s infrastructure and public services. He also observed better bridges, security, and economic stability. He described the Arab Parliament meeting as a political prelude to the Arab Summit. Analysts say this event boosts Iraq’s influence in Arab decision-making.
It shows Iraq’s ability to host major dialogues and regional events.

‘Iraq is regaining its health and historical role in the region’
Tunisian MP and Arab Parliament member, Muhamed Al-Yahyawi
told INA, “We thank Iraq, its leadership and people, for their hospitality. We were surprised by the stability and development we saw, and we extend our greetings of respect and reverence to this dear country.”
“Iraq is civilization and history, and we are happy to be among you at this conference. This is our first visit to Baghdad, the land of the two rivers, which has played a pioneering role in the Arab world,” he stressed, adding, “We hope that Baghdad will regain its health and once again play its pivotal role in restoring the Arab balance, as it has been throughout history.”
He continued, “Baghdad holds a significant position in political and development decision-making in the Arab world, and has an indispensable strategic role.”

‘Urban Growth in Baghdad is Heartwarming’
Bahraini MP and member of the Arab Parliament, Hisham Al-Asheeri
told INA, “The rapid urban growth we have seen in Baghdad is heartwarming and a source of pride. We are pleased to see our Arab countries, especially Iraq, witnessing this remarkable progress.”
“We wish all the best for Iraq and its people, especially as we are on the eve of the Arab Summit, which we hope will be a further step toward unifying Arab ranks,” he added.

‘Baghdad is Vibrant and Confirms its Security Stability’
Palestinian MP and member of the Arab Parliament, Mona Al-Kaila, expressed her pride in visiting Baghdad, telling INA: “We were eager to visit Baghdad, and we feel immense pride and honor to be in this great Arab country, which possesses a rich history and diverse heritage reflecting successive civilizations. Baghdad is vibrant and confirms its security stability.”
“We saw rapid construction in Baghdad, which indicates the presence of security stability and a clear plan for the reconstruction of Iraq. What is happening in Baghdad today is a message of hope that Iraq is regaining its position in its Arab surroundings.”
